Safety Rules RijnBoulder

  • Bouldering is a high-risk sport. If you do not have any experience with bouldering, we strongly advise you to follow an introduction lesson or follow a safety instruction from an employee. Please make this  clear at the desk on your first visit.
  • Do not run or play in the bouldering gym or outside.
  • Do not lay down on the mats inside or in the gravel outside.
  • It is better to climb down than to jump down. Use the gray holds to climb down.
  • Be sure to give those bouldering sufficient space (above, below, to the left and right) on the walls.
  • While bouldering, please use only the walls and the holds.
  • Do not use the structure of the building.
  • Keep the mats and your fall zone free of any objects.
  • Do not wear any jewelry or watches while bouldering.
  • Ensure that you understand and use proper technique regarding falling as explained in the instructional videos.
  • Watch the instructional video ‘Introduction to bouldering’ before your first visit.

Bouldering Garden

  • When bouldering above 3 metres (the black line on the walls), the use of a crash pad is mandatory. Bouldering with a spotter is highly recommended.
  • Besides the crash pad no items should be within the fall zone
  • Do not climb on top of the bouldering walls.
  • Watch the instructional video ‘Safety bouldering garden’ before your first visit.

Age limitations

  • These age limitations apply when you are bouldering independently, without direct supervision by Mountain Network.
  • Parents/legal guardians always need to sign a consent  form for kids aged up to and including age 17.

Children aged 4 & 5

  • Are not allowed to boulder indepently and need to be under direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian (max. 3 children per person).
  • Are only allowed to boulder inside on the ground floor.
  • Are not allowed in the bouldering garden.

Children aged 6 to 11

  • Are not allowed to boulder indepently and need to be under direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian (max. 3 children per person).
  • Are only allowed to boulder inside on the ground floor.
  • Are allowed to boulder up to 3 metres in the bouldering garden (the black line on the walls).

Children aged 12 and up

  • Are allowed to boulder independently
